Finding a CBS Code via the eKey App

What is a CBS code?

The Supra electronic lockbox, known as the Supra iBox BT LE, is utilized by real estate agents nationwide to secure homes listed for rent or sale. A CBS code, standing for “Call Before Showing” code, consists of a seven-digit number pre-programmed into the lockbox. Typically, this code is assigned during registration with the association, though it can be altered using the procedures outlined below.

When is a CBS code necessary?

Supra offers two tiers of eKey access to MLS associations: Member and Affiliate.

When required by the listing agent:

Listing agents have the option to require a CBS code for accessing their listings via Supra. This feature can be activated for any lockbox within the same vicinity through the eKEY app, as detailed in the instructions below. Members can access lockboxes without a CBS code unless the CBS option is activated.

What are the advantages of using a CBS code?

A CBS code affords the listing agent greater control over home access, deterring unscheduled or unannounced showings. This serves as a viable solution for homeowners seeking more control over viewing schedules without necessitating their presence or that of the listing agent. Coupled with ShowingTime, homeowners can approve showings and have the CBS code emailed directly to the buyer's agent along with approval, allowing listing agents to focus on marketing the property.

When needed for vendors.

Affiliate access is typically granted to vendors like home inspectors or real estate appraisers who require home access but lack real estate licensure. This level of access mandates a CBS code to open any lockbox, even when the box owner hasn't specifically set the requirement. Our local MLS currently mandates all affiliates to use a CBS code for accessing lockboxes.

How do I locate, modify, or activate my CBS code in the Supra eKEY app?

Step 1: Navigate to the "My Lockboxes" section on the main page of the Supra eKEY app.

Step 2: Choose the lockbox associated with the property.

Step 3: Select the “Program Lockbox” option on the lockbox options page.

Step 4: The CBS Code can be found under Lockbox Settings: Require CBS Code.

Note: You DO NOT have to enable “Require CBS” for Vendor/Affiliate Access.
